Children’s Badnje veče

Please join us in celebrating our third annual Children’s Eastern Orthodox Christmas Eve taking place at Serbian Cultural and Arts Center St. Sava on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at 6:15 PM.

Children will be introduced to and participate in Serbian Christmas traditions led by actors from the Mira Sremčević Theater Group, including being a polozajnik (the first person to enter a household on Christmas Day), burning the yule log, and other customs which take place in Serbian homes on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. There will also be a special guest appearance followed by a traditional Christmas Eve dinner after the program.

This event is free, but donations are very much appreciated.

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at SCAC St. Sava

Wednesday, December 31 at 8 PM

A great New Year’s Eve celebration is in the works at SCAC St. Sava. A delicious Serbian dinner and all-night entertainment by Vitomir Vita Zdrale is available for only $50 per person.

Saturdays in The Cave!

Saturday, December 31 at 10 PM

Every first Saturday of the month, come and party with us in The Cave of the Serbian Cultural and Arts Center St. Sava. The party begins at 9 PM. We’ll bring the refreshments, DJ Drug (pop, rock, dub and reggae) and DJ T Music (techno and house) will spin the music, and you bring the fun! There is a $5 cover at the door.

Because parking is limited to 25 cars at the Center, we recommend three things:

  1. Use the El: the nearest Red and Brown Line stops are located at Belmont Avenue
  2. Use the local bus routes: routes 22, 36, 76, 77, 146, and 151 all stop in close proximity to the Center
  3. Park at a nearby parking garage: several garages are located near the center; the closest (and most recommended) is Interial Parking at 3115 N. Broadway Ave.
