Two-Headed Pin
The play Two-Headed Pin by Aleksandar Gatalica is a unique dramatic opus. More than just a mono-drama, it is a one-actor theater. Within an hour, which is the duration of the play, the actor will go through five different characters, perform two duet scenes and, through stories, recollections and demons which visit maestro Anatol Liberstein, paint for us an entire epoch. It is a story about love, betrayal, hard-to-come-by documents and dilemmas during the time of the Nazis in Europe. The actor, Goran Milev, accomplishes the greatest theatrical challenge: faithfully portrays the role of a maestro Liberstein, but he also breathes individuality into all of his characters which are evoked from the conductor’s memories (Review by Aleksandar Milosavljevic in Glas Javnosti, Belgrade).
The play was performed at the Belgrade Drama Theater, and now it is a part of the repertoire of the Serbian Theater “Mira Sremčević” in Chicago.
The play will be performed on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 8pm. The play is in Serbian, but a synchronized translation in English will be shown on a TV screen, which should make it accessible and interesting to your non-Serbian speaking friends.
The price of admission is $15. Let us socialize after the play! Valet parking is available for the first 30 or so cars.
